The History of East Freehold Fire Company
The East Freehold Fire Company was formed by Jack Allen and Harry Read in June of 1967.  By 1968 our membership swelled to 27 active members and we added a second truck. The town then allocated a small converted schoolhouse for us to use as our firehouse.
Our district was later established as district # 2 and our Station number became Station 16-2.  The area that we cover is from the East side of Route 9 north between  Route 524 and East Freehold Road.  (approximately 18 square miles)
Our response area is about 60% - 40% residential to business. Our businesses are located mainly in two areas of our coverage area. One is along the Route 9 corridor and the other along Route 33 business area.
Today our main base is still in the original location where the converted schoolhouse once stood.  The current building has seen several renovations and now rivals the most modern facilities to be found anywhere in the county. The building is now equipped with 3 bays, one being a drive through bay and we have an on site power generator capable of powering our facility during an extended power failure.

In addition to our Main Base we also have two annexes both with three bays. They are located at 343 Pond Road and 160 Daniels Way. Our membership today is over 75 strong consisting of active, life, probationary, honorary, and associate members. We also have a Junior Firefighter program to help teach kids how to respect fire.
